Brussels2030 is looking for 100 young people between 15 and 30 to co-create the programme for Brussels’ candidacy to become European Capital of Culture
40% of the population of Brussels is under 30 years old. These young people will play a key role for Brussels in 2030! With this in mind, we are calling on the young people of Brussels to participate to the Youth Coalition.
What is the Youth Coalition?
The Youth Coalition is made up of 100 young people from Brussels who represent 1,000 demands pooled together during the first phase of the Speak Up Brussels! project in the Brussels Parliament on 9, 10, and 24 September 2023.
The Youth Coalition is part of the “Co-creation” project of Brussels2030, Brussels’ candidacy to the title of European Capital of Culture in 2030, and more specifically of the Speak Up Brussels! project, which aims to pool together the demands of young people in Brussels so that they can be discussed in the Brussels Parliament. These demands will then be used as a basis for the artistic programming for the Brussels2030 bid.
We have been collecting these demands since February 2023 through a platform and workshop discussions that have brought out the concerns of youngsters, which include police violence, climate, security in public spaces, access to housing, education, rising prices, etc.
This call for applications is an invitation to the youth of Brussels, in particular to those who love their city and contribute to change through a cause they care about. Over a period of three days, we will reflect, discuss, dream and build our vision for Brussels2030.
What kind of young people are we looking for?
We want to attract diverse and varied voices, young people with different backgrounds and life experiences in Brussels, so that we can obtain diversity in terms of regions, culture, social status, age and gender.
Participation criteria:
