Hadja Lahbib and Jan Goossens took office as the Brussels Government’s commissioners in the spring of 2021. This position includes the preparation of Brussels’ bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2030.
In this report, we address our work and answer a number of specific questions, as requested in the agreement we concluded with the Region. But we share much more information and describe a partial and possible first vision. Part of this vision is setting an agenda: what will be the big issues and themes of Brussels2030? We start from three perspectives that have to go hand in hand in the project: the Brussels imaginary, the Brussels (urban) spaces and the co-creation with the residentsof Brussels. At the same time, we would like to emphasise that this is an interim report. It reflects the complex yet highly motivating and inspiring work in an extremely diverse city with incredible potential. Brussels is gradually evolving towards 2030.
